FAQ

Synthetic paper questions, answered.

Does it work in my printer?
Any laser printer or copier, and offset or flexo presses. It is not for inkjet printers — the toner-receptive coating does not absorb inkjet ink. Use the paper-tray setting for heavy or label stock and, on thicker weights, the straight-through or bypass path.
Which thickness should I use?
5 mil (175 gsm) feels like heavy paper — menus, flyers and labels. 8 mil (280 gsm) is card weight — badges, door hangers and tags. 11 mil (385 gsm) and 14 mil (525 gsm) are rigid, for counter signs and outdoor pieces that stand on their own.
Is it really waterproof?
Yes. It is a polyester film with a coated, paper-like surface, so water, grease and cleaners bead off and wipe away. Prints stay put through rain, spills and washing.
Do I still need to laminate?
No — that is the point. The sheet is already water- and tear-resistant, so you skip the laminating step, the pouch cost and the time. It can be laminated if you want a gloss finish.
Can I write on it, cut it, score it?
Pencil and permanent or all-weather pens write on it. It cuts cleanly on a guillotine or rotary trimmer, scores and folds without cracking, and takes a corner rounder.
Is it safe for food and recyclable?
It is FDA compliant for food-contact applications such as menus and kitchen labels, and the sheet is 100% recyclable.
