RDTFS800
Inline DTF Powder Unit, Shaker and Dryer
— excess powder is collected and recycled back into the hopper, so long roll-to-roll runs continue unattended.
The RDTFS800 is the finishing half of a direct-to-film line. Printed film feeds straight from the TY-300i into the shaker, which applies adhesive powder, recycles what it does not use, melts the powder onto the film under heat, cools it and winds it onto a take-up unit. Roland supplies matched settings for pairing the two devices in any print mode, and a fume extraction system with HEPA filtration is built in rather than bolted on.
September 2026 promotional pricing. Designed for the TY-300i, sold separately. UL approved. Call 800-268-6577 or email sales@printfinish.com.
A matched pair, not a generic add-on
The RDTFS800 was designed against the TY-300i's specific requirements, and Roland publishes settings that pair the two devices in any print mode. That removes the guesswork of matching a third-party shaker to the printer's output. The TY-300 and TY-300i are physically identical, so the shaker fits either — an installed TY-300 needs no upgrade to run it.
Dual catch trays and powder recycling
Excess powder falls into two catchment trays and is returned to the top hopper for reuse. Combined with roll-to-roll feed and a take-up unit, that supports long unattended production runs instead of frequent operator intervention.
A jig that keeps a full roll straight
An included printer-to-shaker alignment fixture sets the feed path, so a full roll tracks correctly from the first metre to the last. Setup is a fixture placement rather than a calibration exercise.
Fume extraction and HEPA filtration built in
The extraction system is integrated into the unit, saving the floor space an external extractor would take and meeting the air-handling requirement that powder curing creates in an occupied workspace. A HEPA element (#300000003) lasts six to twelve months depending on use, and the carbon filter (#300000002) around six.
LCD interface and status light
An LCD user interface handles setup and a status light reports state across the room. Safety covers the practical failure modes: an emergency stop button, open cover detection, and media and powder sensors that halt the line rather than run it dry.
Accessible consumable points
A waste oil tray, HEPA filter cover, powder input cover and tray, and adjustable feet are all reachable without dismantling the machine, which keeps routine maintenance short.
How the RDTFS800 finishes a roll
Roland DG Connect Designer, VersaWorks 7, and the BY2-20 work together as one connected design-to-print workflow.
Pre-heat
Film exits the printer and is guided into the shaker across the pre-heater platen.
Powder
The printed film passes through the powder bin for dusting and adhesive application; excess falls into the dual trays and returns to the hopper.
Cure
The powdered film travels the heater platen, where heat melts the powder and solidifies it onto the film.
Cool and wind
An exit media fan cools the film and the take-up unit winds it. The finished roll comes off ready for heat pressing.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need the RDTFS800 to run the TY-300i?
To produce finished transfers, yes. The printer lays ink onto film; the shaker applies and cures the adhesive powder that makes the transfer bond to fabric. The two are sold separately but work as one line.
Does it need a separate fume extractor?
No. Fume extraction with HEPA filtration is built into the unit, which saves the floor space and installation an external extractor would require.
Is powder wasted on every run?
Little of it. Excess powder drops into dual catchment trays and is recycled back into the top hopper for reuse, which is what makes long unattended runs practical.
Can it run a full roll without an operator?
That is the intent. Roll-to-roll feed, the included alignment fixture, dual catch trays and a media take-up unit are all aimed at unattended full-roll production.
What are its dimensions and power requirements?
It measures 1,930 × 1,360 × 1,010 mm (76 × 53.5 × 40 in.) and weighs 382 kg (842 lbs), so check floor loading and the access route. Power is the item to plan first: AC 200-240 V single phase on a 16 A circuit, drawing 4,000 W in operation and 400 W on standby.
