S-PG2 Garment DTF Ink

Direct-to-Film Pigment Ink — 220 ml and 500 ml

Two sizes

The 500 ml cartridge works out roughly a third cheaper per millilitre.

S-PG2 is Roland's direct-to-film pigment ink for garment decoration, supplied in 220 ml and 500 ml cartridges. Five channels — CMYK plus white — cover both the colour layer and the white underbase that DTF transfers depend on. The 500 ml cartridge is the same ink at a materially lower cost per millilitre, which is the size to specify wherever the machine accepts it.

Value

The 500 ml is the one to buy

At $99.99 CAD for 500 ml against $69.99 for 220 ml, the larger cartridge costs about 20 cents per millilitre versus 32 — roughly a third less for the same ink.

White

Built for underbase

DTF depends on a dense white layer under the colour so prints hold up on dark garments. S-PG2 white is formulated for that job rather than adapted to it.

Washing

Survives the laundry

Pigment DTF transfers stay bright and flexible through repeated domestic washing, which is what separates a saleable garment from a sample.

Range

One ink across the DTF line

The same ink family runs the BN-20D, BY-20, BY2-20 and TY-300i, so a shop with more than one machine keeps a single consumable on the shelf.

Frequently asked questions

Should I buy 220 ml or 500 ml?

The 500 ml wherever your machine takes it — it is about a third cheaper per millilitre. The BY2-20 accepts either size; the TY-300i takes 500 ml, and the BN-20D and BY-20 take 220 ml.

Is S-PG2 the same as S-PG?

No. S-PG2 supersedes S-PG and comes in both 220 ml and 500 ml. They are separate products and should not be mixed in a machine.

Do I need the white channel?

For anything other than white or very light garments, yes. The white underbase is what makes the colour layer read on a dark fabric.
